MARRAKECH – DRAA VALLEY – SKOURA
Day 1
We set off early from Marrakech and head towards the Atlas Mountains.
You can admire the snow cap of the Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa, culminating at 4.167 meters. We cross the Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass and from then on we have a more arid landscape.
Houses are made of dry mud and straw and villages are built in fortified manner called kasbahs.
Day 2
These once very powerful places still stood very proudly amongst palm groves. We stop at Kasbah Telouet and then the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, famous for its backdrop of many Hollywood blockbusters.
You will get a chance to walk in the narrow streets of the village and admire the culminating view of the lush valley.
Day 3
The route then follow the Draa river until we reach Skoura. Skoura is one of the largest palm groves in Morocco and is also home to an impressive kasbah. Seen on the 50 dirhams banknote.
We will stay the nights in traditional auberges with modern comfort. The morning is spent at a leisurely pace and you have the opportunity to discover your surroundings either on a bike or even camel ride.
Then we head back towards Marrakech to be reached by late afternoon.
