Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8 o´clock in the morning. We will depart straight to the High Atlas mountains, in the direction of the Tizi N´Tichka pass (2240m) with panoramic views and small Berber villages that camouflage in the landscape. We continue south to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986).
Famous films have been shot in this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…etc. We have lunch with view on the old kasbah. After lunch we will continue to Ouarzazate also known as “The gate of the desert” (in Berber language “noiseless or without confusion”). We will come across the Taourirt kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco.
After a while we will arrive at the Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm groves; a beautiful place with more than 700.000 palms and numerous kasbahs. In this valley Damascenes roses are raised for cosmetic use such as the valued rosewater. The Rose Festival is held here in May, annually. Finally we reach the Dades valley where we´ll spend the night.
After breakfast we´ll enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Dades Valley from one strategic lookout in the mountains. From this point we can appreciate a great number of kasbahs and the scenic characteristics of each one. A very good road leads up the valley from the city of Tinerhir to the desert.
After some stops on our way we´ll reach the Todra Gorges. with spectacular scenery. We will come across a lot a of adobe villages. Thanks to its rock sides with many uneven surfaces, these gorges are popular among rock climbers. After a short walk in the Todra gorges you´ll have free time for lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug and then we continue our way to the desert, the spectacular dunes of Merzouga.
Camels will be waiting for us and a one hour camel ride into the desert will bring us to our nomad camp located in the middle of a sea of sand (Erg Chebbi). Before dinner we´ll see the sunset at the top of a dune and we stay the night in the camp in a Berber tent under a beautiful starry sky
Early in the morning we wake up to see a beautiful sunrise in the desert. After breakfast we go back to the car and continue our way to the Draa valley with the magical Drâa River, one of the longest rivers in Morocco.
On our way we will stop at some beautiful adobe kasbahs and Berber villages.
Lunch in Ouarzazate and after lunch we head for the Tizi N´Tichka pass to arrive at Marrakech just before dawn. We drop you af at your Hotel.
